Pop Art

17 January – 18 February 2025

Werner Berges Allen Jones Richard Lindner Mel Ramos [Please scroll down for German version / Für Deutsch bitte scrollen Sie nach unten] Levy is pleased to present a group exhibition featuring four artists entitled Pop Art. Pop Art is inextricably linked to the aesthetics of consumption, body and desire. The exhibition at the Levy Galerie focuses on works on paper of Werner Berges, Allen Jones, Richard Lindner and Mel Ramos, supplemented by selected works, and thus explores the origins of an art form that continues to fascinate—and raise questions—to this day. The earliest works of Pop Art are over 60 years old and yet they are as relevant today as they were then. Our world is characterized more than ever by short-lived consumption, self-optimization and ostentation. Whether Instagram, Snapchat or TikTok, every second viewers consume advertising, products and, above all, people themselves as a projection surface for the desire for accomplishment. The female body in particular continues to serve as both a marketing tool and a target. The exhibition Pop Art takes a look at the ambivalence of a genre that constantly questions the fascination with the body and consumption, but never completely dissolves it.
