Together

New York-based artist Patty Horing first met fashion designer Elisha Abargel when she walked into his charming atelier on Lilienblum Street in Tel Aviv two years ago. She fell in love with his tailored couture creations and followed him on Instagram. After viewing her paintings online, he sent a note proposing a creative collaboration. The result is Together, an art exhibit and trunk show. Through a suite of five large, maximalist paintings, Horing presents a portrait of a couple in an expansive private space, navigating their comfort with each other, with outside events, and with themselves. Abargel's clothing and a setting of colorful interior design set the stage for the emotional layers of the couple’s story. The works are reflective of Horing’s practice, which emphasizes the psychological nature of portraiture. All five paintings will be shown alongside Abargel’s spring line. At Together, visitors can try on trunk show samples and orders will be made to measure. Abargel’s pieces often combine classic materials, like leather, silk and linen, with digitally created mesh and other technical materials. Known for his unique process, Abargel starts by creating design motifs by hand, and then uses advanced technology to digitally create his fabrics. For Together, he has created limited edition voile scarves based on patterns and imagery pulled from Horing’s paintings. As a joint project, Together will invite people to experience both Patty Horing’s paintings and Elisha Abargel’s clothes in a gallery setting, merging the worlds of art and fashion, which are so closely linked in our broader culture.
