The exhibition brings together a dynamic group of contemporary artists from Eighth House’s extended creative community to explore how networks of care, collaboration, and mutual support are actively built and sustained in an evolving world. Hosted at 56 Henry’s 105 Henry Street location in New York City, with an accompanying online presentation through Platform, Community as Praxis reflects on community at every scale —from intimate circles of care to broader structures of collaboration and mutual aid. Through diverse artistic practices, the exhibition highlights both quiet and visible acts that form the foundation of collective strength, resilience, and joy. By convening artists, curators, gallerists, collectors, and cultural leaders in support of Eighth House, the exhibition not only reflects the importance of community, but actively contributes to its ongoing vitality. Proceeds from the exhibition will directly support Eighth House’s mission as a nonprofit interdisciplinary artist residency program. Eighth House is an interdisciplinary arts residency program for visual artists, curators, and writers nestled in the forests of Vermont. A restorative, non-transactional residency, Eighth House supports artists by providing a nourishing and inspiring environment to nurture the creative process. Through an artist- directed experience, the residency encourages restorative practices, personal development, creative experimentation, and the cultivation of new ideas within a unique rural setting.
