Equilibrium in Meteors

Comprised of new and recent works, the exhibition highlights the role of tools and modelling in the artist’s practice, accentuating the ways her distinctive installations and sculptures serve as abstract depictions and demonstrations of relationships, movements, and events. Tarasewicz’s installations frequently take the form of modular display systems that combine modest functionalism with formal logics found in the natural world, scientific experiments, graphs and diagrams. Thereby continuing with her interest in modelling as a process and concept itself, the exhibition Equilibrium in Meteors intermingles the system of chess with the contingent yet exact system of astronomy, conflating the micro and macro, the internal and the cosmic, through a logic of numbers and the charting of movement. Iza Tarasewicz (b. 1981, Białystok, Poland, lives and works in Kolonia Koplany, Poland, and Munich, Germany) graduated from the Faculty of Sculpture and Performing Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań in 2008. Her work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions internationally, most recently at Croy Nielsen, Vienna (2018), SKD Museum, Dresden (2018), Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb (2018), and KUMU Art Museum, Tallinn (2017), among others. In 2015, Tarasewicz was the winner of "Views 2015 – Deutsche Bank Award" co-organized with Zachęta – National Gallery of Art in Warsaw. In 2016 she participated in the 32nd Bienal de São Paulo and 11th Gwangju Biennale, and she is currently representing Poland at the 16th Venice Architecture Biennale. ***** Galerija Gregor Podnar ist erfreut mit Equilibrium in Meteors Iza Tarasewiczs erste Einzelausstellung in der Galerie zu präsentieren. Die Ausstellung, die Werke aus jüngerer Zeit sowie neue Arbeiten umfasst, beleuchtet die Rolle von Werkzeugen und Modellierungen in der künstlerischen Praxis Tarasewiczs und verdeutlicht die Art und Weise wie ihre markanten Installationen und Skulpturen als abstrakte Darstellungen und Demonstrationen von Beziehungen, Bewegungen und Ereignissen fungieren. Tarasewiczs Installationen nehmen häufig die Form von modularen Darstellungssystemen an, die bescheidenen Funktionalismus mit formaler Logik aus Natur, wissenschaftlichen Experimenten, Graphen und Diagrammen kombinieren. Mit der Ausstellung setzt sie ihr Interesse am Modellieren als Prozess und als Konzept selbst fort. Equilibrium in Meteors vermischt das System des Schachspielens mit dem ungewissen, jedoch exakten System der Astronomie und verbindet Mikro und Makro, das Innere und das Kosmische durch Zahlenlogik und dem Aufzeichnen von Bewegung. Iza Tarasewicz (geb. 1981 in Białystok, Polen; lebt und arbeitet in Kolonia Koplany, Polen und München, Deutschland) schloss 2008 ihr Studium an der Fakultät für Bildhauerei und Darstellende Kunst der Akademie der Künste in Posen ab. Ihre Arbeiten wurden in zahlreichen internationalen Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen gezeigt, zuletzt bei Croy Nielsen, Wien (2018), im SKD Museum, Dresden (2018), im Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb (2018) und im KUMU Art Museum, Tallinn (2017). 2015 gewann Tarasewicz den "Views 2015 - Deutsche Bank Award", der in Zusammenarbeit mit der Zachęta National Gallery of Art in Warschau ausgeschrieben wird. 2016 nahm sie an der 32.
