Shit Art ClubMax Frintrop, Gabrielle Graessle, Nils Jendri, Abel Kabel, Liz Markus, Anna Pietrzak, Evelyn Snoek, Erik Sommer, David Surman Mott Projects, in partnership with Shit Art Club, is pleased to present Puff Puff Paint, a group exhibition featuring nine of the most interesting and provocative painters working today. As the idea of a painting continues to move further and further away from only being a lifelike picture made from paint on a canvas, artists today have the freedom to interpret the medium how they see fit. Working without limitations on material, subject matter, size, shape, application method or installation technique, and borrowing ideas from drawing and sculpture, this group of international artists pursue their visual vocabulary in ways that cause viewers to ask: What constitutes a painting? Or more importantly: Does it matter? Max Frintrop lives and works in Düsseldorf, DE. His work has been exhibited at Andersen’s Contemporary, Berthold Pott Gallery, Lyles & King and A+B Gallery. Gabrielle Graessle lives and works in Andalusia, ES. Her work has been exhibited at Alzueta Gallery, Galería Yusto/Giner, Beers London and Pulpo Gallery. Nils Jendri lives and works in Freiburg, DE. His work has been exhibited at Contemporary Cluster, Unruly Gallery, Galerie Tassilo Usner and Galerie Irrgang. Abel Kabel lives and works in Aarhus, DK. Their work has been exhibited at Annika Nuttall Gallery, Aarhus Artspace and Pt. 2 Gallery. Liz Markus lives and works in Los Angeles, CA. Her work has been exhibited at The Pit, Kantor Gallery, Unit London and ZieherSmith. Anna Pietrzak lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Her work has been exhibited at Deli Grocery, Hollis Taggart, Gallery Cubed and The Place. Evelyn Snoek lives and works in The Hague, NL. Her work has been exhibited at Kunstraum Heidelberg, Poimena Gallery, Alfa Gallery and Gallery Biesenbach. Erik Sommer lives and works in New York, NY.
