Salazar Rosales's work develops from a sentence she wrote: "Hay cuerpos cansados por el viaje que buscan enraizarse" (There are bodies tired from the journey that seek to root). Her interest focuses on how objects have a potential to show social, political, and economic contexts, specifically linked to the displacement of humans, goods and other objects. She conceives her pieces as spaces of reconciliation to negotiate between the object, the material and their history throughout different contexts. Reconciling is also a constructive gesture in her work, which continuously transforms the objects with particular focus on their emotional effect. Salazar Rosales and her sculptures have a relationship of affection. The artist says: "We are contextual, but also sentimental." Sofia Salazar is a gold medalist of the Art Basel Awards in the Emerging Artist category (2025), She has recently completed a master's degree with distinction at the School of Fine Arts (ENSBA Paris) in the ateliers of Tatiana Trouvé, Petrit Halilaj and Álvaro Urbano. And recently completed the two-year residency at De Ateliers in Amsterdam. She recently was the object of a solo show at Kunsthalle Sankt Gallen, Sankt Gallen, CH (2025) and was part of the Lyon Biennale, Lyon, FR (2024). Le travail de Salazar Rosales (née en 1999 à Quito, Équateur, vit et travaille entre Paris, France et Amsterdam) se développe à partir d’une phrase qu’elle a écrite : « Hay cuerpos cansados por el viaje que buscan enraizarse » (Il y a des corps fatigués par le voyage qui cherchent à s’enraciner). Elle s’intéresse à la manière dont les objets peuvent montrer des contextes sociaux, politiques et économiques, notamment liés au déplacement d’êtres humains, de biens et d’autres objets. Elle conçoit ses pièces comme des espaces de réconciliation pour négocier entre l’objet, le matériau et leur histoire dans différents contextes. La réconciliation est également un geste constructif dans son travail, qui transforme continuellement les objets en mettant l’accent sur leur effet émotionnel. Salazar Rosales et ses sculptures entretiennent une relation d’affection. L’artiste déclare : « Nous sommes contextuels, mais aussi sentimentaux ».
