AtrataFollowing her residency this summer at Villa Atrata, Elené Shatberashvili (b. 1990, Tbilisi, Georgia) presents a selection of recent paintings and drawings in Atrata’s gallery overlooking the gardens of Palais Royal. Shatberashvili’s luminous compositions incorporate the deep shadows of the brightest season. Working in oil on canvas, the artist plays with the memory of landscape through dynamic studies of light and form. Her recurring motifs: circles, crosses, eggs, fish, flowers, ladders and mirrors, reveal an intimate concern for fleeting seasons of nature and belief. After Shatberashvili's studies in architecture, she pursued painting at École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts, Paris. The artist continues to live and work in the French capital. This is her first exhibition at Atrata. Shatberashvili's work was the subject of a solo exhibition at gb agency, Paris (2023).
