Evolution Leibniz

Galerie Crone

29 April – 19 June 2016

We would like to cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibtion „Evolution Leibniz“ in honor of Hanne Darboven’s 75th birthday. Hanne Darboven would have turned 75 on the day of the opening of both the exhibtion and the Gallery Weekend Berlin. With her wall-filling numerical and typed works, Hanne Darboven undoubtedly belongs to the canon of contemporary art. Having taken part in four documentas and almost a hundred exhibitions at significant museums worldwide, she has made a lasting impact on the art world and also made a name for herself as the most important female German conceptual artist. In the exhibition in honor of her 75th birthday, we present the monumental work „Evolution Leibniz“ (1986), which consists of 888 single sheets. It was only on view once before 20 years ago at the Sprengel Museum Hannover. The exhibition will be complemented by early construction drawings and typewriter works from the 1960’s, with which Hanne Darboven created the basis for her unique system of numbers and codes.
