SaltsR. Sebastian Schachingers practice deals with the immaterial presence of the past. The traces of our experiences are erased hundreds of times and overwritten by new ones. The objects he works with and creates are overloaded with his biography through different mediums such as large-scale installations, sculpture, sound, and performance. He tries to understand what role these physical relics play in self-identification and how their material uniqueness relates to our idea of them, engaging in duality and repetition.
