Of Resistances and Support Lines Marcel Eichner looked inward and his paintings formed crusts. The material, ink, fine brushes, lead him layer by layer to dense narratives. Woundike, nervously scratched open and closed again, they are witnesses to healing. Healing? They seem more like acts of despair, abysmal but fascinatingly deep. Life is captured in its never-ending ups and downs. Thus, after studying in Düsseldorf with Jörg Immendorff, Eichner won an international audience for himself. In 2018, he moves to Spain, a new phase of life begins and the way of painting changes gradually. These changes culminated in the Berlin lockdown exhibition "ME" in May 2020, where a loose stroke dominated, with broad brush in oil, light gestures depicted the limited cosmos of the stranded in the apartment; 1st wave. Back in Spain, the paintings that were supposed to be shown in Berlin remained, an interplay of introspective and extrospective. Lightness, density, ornamentation and dissolution alternate here and announce the desire to leave behind the heaviness and losing oneself in the narrative. Among others, the exhibition "W“ presents a selection of the pictures from Spain, the phase of change.
