The phrase "out yonder" is a hopeful, colloquial way of saying over there. Often uttered with the outstretching of an arm and the pointing of a finger, the speaker not only offers a direction, but a dreamy rumination on how to get there. Out Yonder, the exhibition, centers around the theme of different scapes: landscapes, cityscapes, oceanscapes, and skyscapes. The works in this show use these “scapes” as an interpretive jumping-off point. Through painting, photography, and sculpture, these artists depict our natural world in ways that explore seemingly disparate topics like climate disasters, the body, pop music, color, and the otherworldly, all with wondrous splendor. "A way over yonder Is a place I have seen In a garden of wisdom From some long ago dream" —Carole King, A Way Over Yonder, 1971
