Mack, Moselle, Alexander Muret, Ludwig Persik, Shane Rossi, Kenny Schachter, SoiL Thornton, Blair Thurman, Meg Yates The title recalls the Michel Legrand song, I Will Wait for You, the key and final piece of music in the film, Umbrellas of Cherbourg, 1964. In the final scene, star-crossed lovers share a chance encounter at a gas station in the falling snow. This exhibition came from the desire to reconnect the ligaments tying the beatniks and abstract expressionists to artists working or exhibiting in New York today. Albeit unintentionally, the tone of the exhibition quickly became its content. In our flattened, postmodern universe, the gesture to do anything at all can supersede erudition. There may be no dots to connect, but you’re sweet for trying. A popular meme pictures a park bench next to a body of water blanketed in snow and reads, "the urge to slowly bleed out here".
