Giovanni’s Room presents an installation of Homocommunist curated by founder and writer Alexander Schneider. The presentation deploys ephemera, objects, books, and printed materials as part of a broader collaborative project to construct a history and aesthetic of homocommunism, investigating connections between queer politics, sexual dissident histories, leftist struggles, and the cultural products of former (and potential future) socialist states. In October, LGBTQ History Month, Giovanni’s Room with host Radical Visions: A Queer Propaganda Workshop. This event is programmed by Circa: Queer Histories Festival 2025, the first and only queer histories festival in the United States. Alexander Schneider is a writer, editor, and arts worker. His project Homocommunist is an archive of radical queer histories, aesthetics, and political and liberatory struggles.
