Vulnerability: The Space Between
Young ProjectsNicky Case, Kate Hollenbach, Luxloop, Lauren McCarthy, Fawn Rogers, and others Vulnerability is often associated with weakness. But the act of being vulnerable often creates a sense of empathy and understanding, which is vital to art and human connection. With the rise of the web and social media, technology has allowed us to connect with more people than ever before. Authenticity and personal stories have become more valuable in creating a sense of humanity, giving us the opportunity to understand different perspectives and create strong communities that surpass boundaries. Thus, we’re more readily able to share personal stories, and invite others to do the same. Curated by NextArt, Vulnerability: The Space Between aims to highlight artists who have used digital and/or filmic mediums to explore the themes of vulnerability--both as a form of empathy and compassion, and as an aesthetic. Each piece will highlight a story of struggle, or be an example of opening oneself up to an unexpected connection. The show will feature installations and performances by digital artists.
