NLTOG (Not Like The Other Girls)

While Marika Thunder has become known for paintings of machines, vehicles, and industrial fragments, this exhibition turns toward collage, a medium she has developed alongside her painting practice for several years. Drawn from fragments of mass media, the works present figures that feel both constructed and split, familiar yet estranged. By cutting, aligning, and recombining images, Thunder brings together distinct cultural codes only to unsettle them through proximity. The collages generate a tension between recognition and dislocation, coherence and fragmentation. Edges remain visible, seams are emphasized, and the act of cutting becomes part of the work itself.
