Complex Harmonic Motion
Kraupa-Tuskany ZeidlerKraupa-Tuskany Zeidler is pleased to announce Florian Auer’s third solo exhibition in the gallery. Complex Harmonic Motion mimics the idea of a full omnidirectional sound environment as a visual experience. Whatever collides with one’s mind or body subsequently creates an experiential response. Florian Auer’s new body of work is not depicting or visualizing sound like the field of Cymatics. Complex Harmonic Motion rather aims at creating a spatial portrait of an auditory experience. The idea of sculpting in a hyperreal space informs the floating reliefs Audible Illusions hanging above the two floor sculptures Semicircle (i-beam) – an environment as brainwave entertainment. The ceiling space of the gallery is occupied by the reliefs in which 3D rendered ears seem to melt into semi-transparent perforated aluminum panels. The ears are filled with reflections of light and pointing hands indicating a moment of vivification. Like speakers the panels are directed towards a space for mental resonance. The two floor sculptures, composed of acoustic isolation material, steel and mirror, cause a telekinetic bending of a steel beam once the spectator moves throughout the exhibition space. They play with metal’s vibratory properties allowing the spectator to switch between corrosion, the amplified reflections of the space and tags of sound waves. Participation in a common social world is determined by modes of perception. These different modes of perception result in distinct ways of how the world is rendered visible and invisible, sayable and unsayable, audible and inaudible. Complex Harmonic Motion stages the afterimage of a shared sound experience, which widens the senses to transform the modes of interaction with our common everyday environment. Florian Auer, born 1984 in Augsburg (DE), lives and works in Berlin. He graduated from the Städelschule, Frankfurt am Main (2009 – 2012) and the Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Munich (2006 – 2009). His work has been exhibited internationally in solo and group exhibitions including the Albertinum, Dresden (2016, solo), Goethe Institute China, Beijing (2016), Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich (2015), Kunstverein Braunschweig (2014, solo), Salts, Basel (2014), Westfälischer Kunstverein, Münster (2014), S.M.A.K., Ghent (2013, solo), NAK Neuer Aachener Kunstverein, Aachen (2013, solo) and the Museum für Moderne Kunst – MMK, Frankfurt a. M. (2012). His work is in the collections of the Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich and the Albertinum, Dresden.
