Sylvia Snowden

White Cube is pleased to present the first solo exhibition in Paris by American artist Sylvia Snowden. Over six decades, the artist has developed an abstract painting practice that evocatively addresses the layered complexity of the human experience. Distorting the figurative form through thick, impasto brushstrokes, Snowden’s psychologically charged work translates colour, texture and form into a spectrum of embodied affect. ‘Inside the White Cube’ is a series of exhibitions showcasing work by non-represented artists at the forefront of global developments in contemporary art who have not previously exhibited with the gallery. Launched in 2011 at White Cube Bermondsey in London, the programme has since expanded to the gallery’s other locations.
