15 Orient is pleased to present Rooms, a solo-exhibition by Nate Antolik. Featuring a selection of paintings and works on paper spanning the last three years, the show marks the artist’s first exhibition with the gallery and the first representative presentation of his work in New York. Throughout the show, Antolik deploys a limited set of motifs in various combinations and arrangements– tables, chairs, dress forms, and dishware– stand-ins and supports for an absent human figure. Painting from direct observation, he mimetically engages the peculiar durée of domestic objects to prompt questions regarding art history, realism and the status of painterly tradition. Nate Antolik (b. 1981) lives and works in Brooklyn. He received his MFA from the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture in 2024. He has exhibited his paintings in solo exhibitions at the National Arts Club (New York) 2023 and Jeremy Scholar (London) 2024.
