The Age We Meet: Works From 1968-1970

Duckworth Gallery

26 April – 23 May 2025

Duckworth Gallery in Red Hook is pleased to present its inaugural exhibition, a solo show featuring its namesake, modernist Aidron Duckworth. Featuring large colorful acrylics on canvas with a flavor of the times and places the works were produced (San Francisco, CA, and Natal, South Africa), at the same time as his son Dehran Duckworth was born (1969) who has built the gallery and brought the collection to Brooklyn, hence the chosen name for the opening exhibition. Duckworth Gallery has been recently established in Red Hook by executive director Dehran Duckworth and principal trustee Jessica Wilson, after operating since 2001 as the “Aidron Duckworth Art Museum” in New Hampshire where Aidron lived and worked for the remainder of his life. Duckworth Gallery is a 501c3 charitable trust dedicated to preserving the work and vision of Aidron while championing other prolific yet under- recognized artists. Through exhibitions, programming, and community partnerships, Duckworth Gallery highlights art that intersects with social justice, amplifying voices that challenge boundaries and spark dialogue. In honoring Aidron’s legacy, the gallery remains committed to showcasing both emerging and established artists who deserve a wider audience. “My dad’s legacy shines in this new home and I take great joy in being able to share it with the world,” said Dehran Duckworth.
