Giovanni's RoomGiovanni’s room presents Ashes, a new painting by John Garcia. Ashes is the last remembrance of a performative event, Heart Rest, organized by Garcia at the gallery. The painting depicts chef at large, Fino Burgos, half hidden in the surrounding foliage. The lush image lives within an orange haze left from fires past. In complement to the painting and performance, the gallery exterior has been adorned with a new poem by Garcia. In lichen green, the words, “sound seeded stars”, have been painted onto the decaying shingles of the gallery roof. The poem remains a reminder of the potential impact of any whisper into the ether.
