Day for Night

IRL Gallery

20 February – 15 March 2026

Sydney Kleinrock Andrei Pokrovskii Lane Walkup Day for Night brings together works by Sydney Kleinrock, Andrei Pokrovskii, and Lane Walkup as a sequence of nocturnal scenes suspended between interior and exterior states. Landscapes feel staged, rooms provisional, and figures hover mid-gesture—more atmospheric than narrative. Night operates not as darkness, but as a condition that slows perception and unsettles orientation, leaving spaces emotionally charged yet withholding. Borrowing its title from cinema, the exhibition invokes a daylight altered to perform as night—filtered, darkened, corrected. Seeing becomes a matter of calibration rather than clarity; space feels constructed and slightly misaligned. Pokrovskii's paintings merge memory, landscape, and psychological atmosphere, drifting between figuration and abstraction. Kleinrock's quilted works transform softness into fragile architecture, where vulnerability suggests becoming rather than collapse. Walkup's metal sculptures and paintings resist solidity, bending toward organic form and quiet endurance. Together, the works hold a tension between hardness and permeability, instinct and construction—sustained just below the threshold of visibility.
