Plunkett’s image-based practice investigates the material conditions and visual economies through which reality is staged and circulated in photography. Working spatially and serially, she utilises movement and forms of disambiguation, employing props, found objects and film industry replicas to introduce estrangement within the familiar. Images expand outward, accumulating in layers and linking to the strange, meandering archives of Western consumption from which their materials are drawn. Megan Plunkett (b. 1985 in Pasadena, US) lives and works in Los Angeles, US. She graduated with a MFA from the Bard MFA Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts in 2017.
