Know Your Trees

Loevenbruck

20 September – 12 October 2025

Exhibition dedicated to the artist's book project published by Michael Woolworth Publications. Know Your Trees is a 40-page artist's book by Blaise Drummond, created in collaboration with master printer Michael Woolworth at his Paris atelier. Combining drawing, collage, and traditional printmaking techniques—lithography, woodcut, and hand-set type—the book offers a quietly immersive journey through image, memory, and the natural world. Rather than illustrating a story, Drummond draws from years of notebooks, assembling a collection of visual fragments—trees, birds, colour swatches, and chance observations—that reflect how ideas emerge and evolve in the artist's mind. Interwoven with lines from Virgil's Georgics, the book meditates on care, cultivation, and our complex relationship with the land. A photograph of Tolstoy with Maxim Gorky sits alongside sketches of nests, fruit box logos, Swedish houses in thickets, and an homage to Fairfield Porter—a line of washing hung in a birch wood. The title, Know Your Trees, is both suggestion and invitation: to observe more closely, to name what we encounter, and to stay alert to what surrounds us.
