Quintin Atchison (b. 2001) is a sculptor located in Los Angeles. Often working in carved plaster, his work attempts to address subjecthood and the repetition of archetypes through mimicry. “Caricature” is a set that operates on a level of familiarity and vacancy, it gains a kind of certainty through the stylization of forms. The relation between objects tries to produce an empathy or emotional content that is based only in that stylization, like a forced pose. Everything implies a presence, an anthropomorphism or agency. As the set is moved around it devolves, and the viewer is to some extent left as the center or as the only viable content.
