Five West Coast Photographers
Deborah Bell PhotographsAnne Brigman Dorothea Lange Alma Lavenson Rose Mandel Edmund Teske Deborah Bell Photographs presents a small exhibition of 15 photographs dating from 1912-1965 by five West Coast photographers. Ranging in style from Anne Brigman's early Pictorialist self-portrait in a bucolic California landscape; to "straight" photography of objects, people, landscape and façades by Alma Lavenson, Dorothea Lange, and Rose Mandel; and to the experimental photomontages of Edmund Teske, the exhibition offers a glimpse into the evolution of stylistic currents in American photography made on the West Coast during the first half of the 20th century.
