More than seventy historical and contemporary works place generations of makers in dialogue across clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood, jewelry, furniture, and experimental design. Presented during the nation’s 250th anniversary, the exhibition traces craft as an evolving language of invention and cultural imagination, with particular resonance in the Bay Area’s history of challenging hierarchies between craft and fine art.
