Meeri Koutaniemi Iida Makikallio Ida-Maria Martela Nature of Nordic Woman is a multidisciplinary work that traces a journey from numbness, self-suppression, and survival, back toward vitality, creative power and aliveness, back to what the artists call our Original Nature. The work explores healthy anger as the foundation of boundaries, agency and selfhood, and eros not merely as sexuality, but as life force, creativity, and connection. The exhibition features a new body of photographic work by Meeri Koutaniemi, one of Finland’s most celebrated visual artists and photojournalists. Known internationally for her human rights work and reporting from more than seventy countries, Koutaniemi has received numerous awards for her contributions to photography and journalism. In Nature of Nordic Woman, she turns her lens toward the relationship between body, nature, and psychological transformation. The project includes a live psychoperformative experience created by psychologist Iida Mäkikallio and performance artist Ida-Maria Martela to be held on June 24 & June 25. Mäkikallio is a renowned Finnish psychologist, Speaker of the Year 2025, and one of Finland’s most recognized public voices on relational dynamics and psychological wellbeing. She is also well known as the relationship expert on one of Finland’s most popular TV shows, Love at First Sight.
