Cysts
Ashes/AshesOn view in LA/DW~PS is Mitra Saboury's Cysts (2016). Saboury's video installation explores the peculiarity of the project space itself, being both an annexed public area and an appendage to the gallery, while also serving as a barrier between them. Through drawing attention to the indeterminacy of this border space, Cysts exposes the discomfort inherent in the crossing of boundaries. Mitra Saboury (born 1988, Monterey, CA) received an MFA at Goldsmiths, University of London, and a BS at the University of Pittsburgh. Recent solo exhibitions include: Gut House, Chins Push, Los Angeles (2016) and Touch Everything, Smart Objects, Los Angeles (2015). A two-person exhibition with Derek Paul Boyle is scheduled for summer 2016 at Alter Space, San Francisco.
