The Summer Show

Opera Gallery

25 May – 5 September 2023

Opera Gallery London is pleased to present The Summer Exhibition a presentation of select works from Opera Gallery’s collection that celebrates the season through color, form, and content. “Summertime has long been a celebrated theme within the art historical canin and has provided inspiration for iconic works that celebrate the season, and with this exhibition we wanted to to dive a little deeper into the psyche of summertime.” said Giulia Lecchini, Opera Gallery London’s Deputy Director. From the deep blues evocative of the ocean in Jae Ko’s sculptural rolled paper works to the vibrant crimson hues of Sung-Hee Cho’s rice paper sculptures reminiscient of blossoming crimson flowers and Reza Derakshani’s Orange Hunt Pink (2019) celebrates the human connection to the natural world. Additionally, The Summer Exhibition explores the zeitgeist of modern life and human experiences both individually and collectively with new paintings by David Kim Whittaker, complemented by the rawness of expression and experimental nature in the materiality of works by the founder of Art Brut, Jean Dubuffet.
