Tanya Leighton, Berlin is pleased to present Works on Paper, a duo exhibition featuring the recent and revisited drawings of Brian DeGraw and Maia Naveriani. This presentation shows the unique approaches each artist takes to drawing, highlighting their perspectives on portraiture, narrative, and the medium of paper itself. ‘Works on Paper’ invites viewers to explore the personal and collective threads that connect these two artists, while celebrating the freedom and complexities inherent in drawing as a medium. Maia Naveriani (b. 1966, Tbilisi, Georgia) lives and works in Tbilisi. She studied at the Tbilisi State Academy of Art under the class of Gia Edzgveradze. Her solo exhibitions include the Georgian National Museum, Svaneti Museum, Mestia; Artbeat, Tbilisi; Galerie Voss, Düsseldorf; Cirius Art Centre, Cork; and Fordham Gallery, London, among others. Her work has also been included in group exhibitions at Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery, Tbilisi; Writer’s House of Georgia, Tbilisi; Heydar Aliyev Centre, Baku, Azerbaijan; CoBrA Museum, Amsterdam; Neues Kunstforum, Cologne; Museum Wiesbaden, Wiesbaden, Germany; and Liverpool Biennale, just to name a few. Brian DeGraw (b. 1974) lives and works in New York. He has held solo exhibitions at James Fuentes, New York; Wish-Less, Tokyo; Allen & Eldridge, New York; Dazed Gallery, London; and UKS Galleri, Oslo, among others. His work has been included in group exhibitions at MoMA, New York; Pace Gallery, New York; Tramps, New York; The Jewish Museum, New York; Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Swiss Institute, New York; Deste Foundation, Athens; and Kunsthalle St. Gallen, just to name a few.
