Charlie Parker
SkarstedtAndré Butzer, George Condo, Eric Fischl, Secundino Hernández, Chantal Joffe, Hans Josephsohn, Marco Pariani, Richard Prince Skarstedt is pleased to present Charlie Parker, a selection of works that are now on view at our Chelsea location. The exhibition's title is taken from George Condo's painting of the same name which – at ten feet in height and twelve feet in width – commands the atrium at the entrance of the gallery. Paintings by André Butzer, Eric Fischl, Secundino Hernández, Marco Pariani, and Richard Prince share the gallery's main space. Chantal Joffe's self-portrait captures a moment when she slept while clutching her daughter's pillow. This intimate depiction of a mother's bond to her absent child is placed but one meter away from Hans Josephsohn's brooding, solitary, larger-than-life sized head in brass. Uncommon affinities arise from their close proximity, and from all the works in the show.
