The Sum of All Parts: Fragments, Repetition, and Wholeness
Yas Art SpaceFereydoon Ave, Sanahin Babasanjian, Saba Farhoudnia, Camelia Mohebi, Allahyar Najafı, Bahareh Navabi, Leila Shirazi Yas Art Space, in collaboration with Rossi & Rossi, is thrilled to present The Sum of All Parts: Fragments, Repetition, and Wholeness. This exhibition brings together contemporary Iranian artists from Iran and the diaspora, showcasing their exploration of the transformative power of repetition and abstraction. Through the meticulous assembly of small, often mundane items, the repetition of words or strokes, and the layering of techniques, ideas, and experiences, these artists create intricate, thought-provoking works that challenge perceptions of scale, materiality, and meaning. The Sum of All Parts highlights the artists' innovative use of repetition as both a visual and conceptual tool. From assembling thousands of pieces of paper to repeating small lines, arranging recycled toys, and crafting series of miniature paintings, each piece tells intricate stories or conveys complex ideas through layered imagery. The exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the relationship between the individual and the collective, the minute and the monumental. The diaspora artists contribute works that blend elements of their Iranian heritage with their adopted cultures. The Sum of All Parts serves as a visual representation of diverse cultural influences, exploring themes of self-reflection and the interplay between the artist and the world. Through the layering of repeated images, these works come together to form new, cohesive identities. Curated by Yas Mostashari, this exhibition celebrates the ingenuity and creativity of Iranian artists, offering a fresh perspective on contemporary art practices that are rooted in tradition yet boldly experimental.
