Sylvie Selig
Cinema Paradiso
Mor CharpentierMor Charpentier is pleased to present Cinema Paradiso, a solo exhibition by Sylvie Selig. Originally conceived as a cycle of fifteen paintings for the exhibition Screen of my Dreams, presented in 2009 in Paris, this series is an ode to cinema and to the filmmakers who have profoundly shaped Selig’s imagination and painting. From Federico Fellini, Alfred Hitchcock, David Lynch, Sofia Coppola, Quentin Tarantino, and Takeshi Kitano, the exhibition brings together directors whose poetic, unsettling, and visionary universes have left a lasting mark on the imagination of generations. Rather than illustrating their films, Selig invents new encounters between filmmakers, writers, composers, painters, and fictional characters, creating painted scenarios that extend beyond the screen. Unseen for the past seventeen years, these paintings form a singular body of work within Sylvie Selig’s oeuvre, making Cinema Paradiso a rare opportunity to discover this remarkable series.
