Founded in 1975 when Italian dealer Gian Enzo Sperone, Angela Westwater, and German dealer Konrad Fischer opened in SoHo, Sperone Westwater celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2025. In 2010, the gallery inaugurated its award-winning Norman Foster-designed building at 257 Bowery, known for its distinctive "moving room" and recognized with the MASterworks Award and RIBA International Award. The gallery represents an international roster of established, mid-career, and emerging artists, with notable early exhibitions including seminal shows by Bruce Nauman, Richard Long, and Mario Merz.
