Founded by artist Dustin Yellin in 2012 in a colossal 1866 brick building in Brooklyn's Red Hook neighborhood, Pioneer Works is an artist and scientist-led nonprofit cultural center that fosters innovative thinking through visual and performing arts, technology, music, and science. Inspired by visionaries like Buckminster Fuller and Black Mountain College, the 501(c)(3) includes exhibition space, a garden, artist residencies, and facilities including 3-D printing, metalworking, and music studios. The space is free, open to all, and transcends disciplinary silos.
