The Wild, Rebounding
Essex FlowersFor one day only, Essex Flowers presents The Wild, Rebounding, a site-sensitive installation by Brazilian artist Rafaela Foz. In this installation, a rockslide made of cardboard, papier-mâché, and house paint overtakes the gallery’s entrance. The boulder-like forms appear to have burst outward from inside the space, spilling onto the sidewalk like a sudden, localized disaster. Fragile, hollow, and—after a moment—unmistakably artificial, they mimic the force of a natural collapse through artifice rather than weight, playing with the dissonance between violence and delicacy.
